Mortiño
It is a berry from wild plants endemic to Ecuador. It grows in the Andean highlands of this land twice a year, from 2,200 meters above sea level. These fruits were consumed for their pleasant flavor as a ceremonial fruit since before the Conquest.
The mortiño is considered a “super fruit” because of its extraordinary level of antioxidant compounds and its potential health benefits. It has a high amount of polyphenols, fiber, lipids, minerals and vitamins, proanthocyanidins, anthocyanidins, flavonoids and a higher amount of antioxidants than common blueberries or grapes.
The berries have a unique and balanced blend of sweet and sour, which pairs well with most proteins and foods. These aspects and under a carefully elaborated process, have allowed us to develop a unique wine in the world.
